Redefining Urban Logistics: Opportunities in the European inner city e-cargo market

How might we, by immersing in cities and analysing markets, develop three scenarios for Bimas Bikes to shape the future of urban logistics?
THE CHALLENGE

Bimas Bikes aimed to explore the rapidly growing e-cargo bike market in Europe to identify new business opportunities. With the high growth of e-commerce and urbanisation increasing congestion and emissions, the project aimed to identify key trends, understand user needs, and regulatory impacts. The goal was to create a clear direction for Bimas to innovate and gain a competitive edge in this evolving market.

THE APPROACH

The project combined desk research, expert interviews, and city immersions. By visiting start-ups, city planning departments, and other key stakeholders with extensive knowledge about the bike culture, we aimed to gain insights into the urban logistics system, user needs, and regulatory frameworks. These insights were used to develop three actionable scenarios for Bimas.

THE RESULT

The project delivered three scenarios for Bimas to grow in the European e-cargo market. These scenarios focused on leveraging innovation, tailored solutions for diverse market segments, and strategic collaborations. Together, these scenarios provide Bimas opportunities to innovate and lead the way in urban logistics.
