For over 30 years, MPS has supported the global ornamental horticulture sector in becoming more sustainable through data analysis and certification. But the sector is undergoing a transition: demand for sustainable products, transparent supply chains, and responsible business practices is growing, while regulations such as CSRD and CO₂ reduction targets become more stringent. MPS faced a crucial question: how to strengthen its leadership position and develop an ambitious strategy for 2030 that combines sustainability with growth?
Through a co-creative strategy process, we worked with the MPS team and external experts to shape future direction. Together, we made key choices around positioning, impact definition, sector focus, and the role of trade and retail. Using interviews, strategy and co-creation sessions, we built a strategic framework around three transitions: from complexity to clarity, from data to action, and from individual links to a connected value chain.
MPS now has a renewed vision and ambition: by 2030, it aims to be the leading sustainability partner in the global ornamental horticulture sector: a trusted data interpreter, connector, and change agent. The strategy focuses on the ornamental sector, builds stronger partnerships with trade and retail, and defines sustainability as fair, green, and inventive. With this foundation, MPS is ready to scale its impact and strengthen its leadership in a rapidly changing market.
